Earrings and make-up : Please note that children are not allowed to wear earrings in school. Dangling or large earrings are a safety hazard in a school environment. If your child’s ears are pierced, they may wear simple studs.
Girls should not be wearing make-up to school – such delights can be left for weekends and holidays!
This Term : You will receive with this newsletter the curriculum notes for your child. These detail the plans for the teaching and learning that will take place this term. This will help you to continue to take an interest in your child’s learning and to continue to support them at home. All the educational research and evidence clearly shows that children who come from homes where parents hear their children read regularly and support their learning make far greater progress than children who come from homes where this doesn’t happen.
Christmas plays : We have a small number of DVDs of the two Christmas plays. Because of copyright licence rules we are not allowed to sell them to parents but if you would like a copy I can give you one. If at the same time you feel like making a small donation to the school funds, we wouldn’t refuse such a kind gesture!!
Christmas Carol Service : I have to share my disappointment with you over the very small number of children and parents who came to the Christmas Service in the church at the end of the term. My grateful thanks go to those children who came and in particular to the Young Voices choir, readers and singers from the two Christmas plays, but some classes were only represented by two or three children. We had expected the vast majority of the children to be there as I believe it is a very important event in the school’s Christmas calendar. A lot of planning and hard work had been put into the service by the staff and children, yet it seems that too many of the parents and children simply couldn’t be bothered to make the effort to come. I find that incredibly sad and disappointing.
Young Voices Photos : The photos from the concert at the NIA are on the Young Voices website: wwwyoungvoicesconcerts.com There are masses of photos of our concert there but you need the security password to gain access to the photos. See me if you want this password, then you will need to spend time searching all the photos for the ones featuring Minchinhampton children! It will take you ages!!
Christmas play photographs: Final orders for the KS1 and Y3/4 Christmas photographs will be Friday 18th January. Order forms and photographs are on display at the main entrance near the school office.
A message from Paula Cole: PTA Meeting: Wednesday 16th January at 8.00 p.m.
You are welcome to come along to this meeting which will be held in Mrs. Smith’s classroom (access from the middle playground). Following last term’s events we have money to spend to benefit all of our children. If you have any ideas how the money might be used, please tell us! If you can’t make it to the meeting, you can let us have your ideas by either contacting Paula Cole or any member of the committee or RH. Please come along if you can.
Yours sincerely
R.J.Harris
