Young Voices 2007

Once again, Minchinhampton School took 48 children to the Young Voices concert in the National Indoor Arena at Birmingham on 6thn December. The children had been learning carols and songs during the Autumn Term, and at Birmingham joined 6,500 other children from all over the Midlands. The afternoon was spent in rehearsals, led by David Lawrence, and the concert was watched by an audience of over 6,000. The Young Voices concerts offer children a tremendous experience of working with live bands, solo singers and experienced musicians. The atmosphere during the concert has to be experienced to be understood - the sound of 6,000 children singing such songs as a dance medley, Saviour's Day, Refuge and Ellis Island is something which cannot be expressed in words - you need to be there to know how it feels!! The choir has sung at the Cotswold Care Hospice, Horsfall House and Cecily Court, and at the Barnardo's concert in the Parish Church and will sing at the School's evening of Christmas carols and music on December 20th,sharing our joy of Christmas with others.
