30 Jun 2008 - Newsletter 2008/20
June 30th 2008,
Dear Parents,
Newsletter 2008/20
Reminders : The Musical Soiree is at 7.00 p.m. on Monday week, 7th July and the Y5/6 play “A Holiday and a Half” is at 1.30 p.m. and 7.00 p.m. on Thursday July 10th. Everyone is invited, whether or not your child is taking part. I can guarantee that you will enjoy these two events!
Reports and class lists will be issued during the week beginning July 7th. The children will be spending some time with their new teachers on the penultimate day of the term.
Don’t forget that term finishes at 2.00 p.m. on Friday July 18th.
Books and school resources : If you have any library books, Oxford Reading Tree books, classroom books or other school books or resources at home or in reading bags, please could you return them to school before Friday 11th July, so that we can audit our resources and prepare for the next school year.
Sports Day Jump for Rope : Thank you to everyone who came to the Sports Day. The weather this year was very kind to us and the day went very well indeed. Thank you to the children who took part in the best of spirits and to all the staff and helpers who organised the event. The Jump for Rope at the end of the morning was great fun. I enjoyed watching some of our experts skipping and the not-so-experts too! Could you please send into school before the end of this week the British Heart Foundation sponsorship form and the money. Thanks.
The Coigne Playgroup – A message from Doreen Slater: Mrs. Pam Fletcher is leaving the Coigne Playgroup at the end of the Summer Term, after spending 12 years as part of the team.
Should you wish to send her a farewell message/card, please place these in the box by our school reception office before Friday 11th July.
PTA News : A message from Paula Cole, Chair of the PTA - SUMMER FAIR: Huge thanks to all of you who helped make this year's fair another success! Whilst we do not know the exact total yet, we are confident we have raised at least £2,500 and probably a few hundred more than that - and it's all thanks to YOU!
Sincere thanks to all the fantastic helpers who battled against the wind in the morning and those who cooked or manned stalls in the afternoon or cleared up afterwards. Thanks to all of you who came along and brought friends and relatives with you - we hope you all had a great time.
The organising team of Jane Rock, Sally Lewis, Emma Hampton, Laura Weldon and Paula Cole worked hard to organise this event and would welcome any feedback you may have (positive and negative) on the fair.
FIREWORKS November 2008 : It would be a tragedy if this annual community event did not take place this year. We need a small team of people (three or four) to take on the logistics of this event. Detailed instructions are provided - wheels do not need reinventing! The team would need to organise all the things for the event except the fireworks! The fireworks can be sorted independently but obviously cannot work in isolation without the rest of the event. If you think you can save the day, please call Paula Cole (883209) or pop a note in the office asap as we need to arrange the fireworks part of the event before we break up in July.
Next PTA Meeting, Wednesday July 2nd at 8.00 p.m. at the Old Lodge - All welcome!
Yours sincerely,
R.J.Harris
