Dear Parents,
Newsletter 2008/19
Sports DaySports Day is on Tuesday next, KS1 children commencing at 9.30 a.m., KS2 commencing at 1.00 p.m. Between the two sessions, there will be an opportunity for parents to sit with their children to enjoy a picnic, preceded by the sponsored Jump for Rope. You will have received sponsor forms for the Jump for Rope. Each class will be skipping in turn for a challenging period of time! We do hope that you will be able to join us for this day of multi-activity sports and have lots of fun!
Spectacles for Malawi Mrs. Hancock’s daughter Claire is working for VSO in Malawi. She has e-mailed us to ask if we can help collect glasses for the people of her town Chitipa. She tells us that an eye glasses project has been set up where the people (many of who live in serious poverty) are sold glasses. The money raised from these sales goes towards buying eye drops for children with eye infections. If you or your children have any spare old pairs of glasses, please consider giving them to this project. A bucket has been placed outside the office for them. Thank you.
The Sizzling Sunday Summer Fair is on Sunday, 12.30 p.m. to 3.00 p.mPlease come along even if it is drizzling, because the barbecue will be sizzling!! Bernie Bennett the tightrope walking superhero will be performing two different shows; there will be plenty of rides and attractions as well as refreshments and a bar. Something for everyone!
Cakes and bottles If you haven’t already done so, please bring along your contributions on Sunday. Last year we were very low on bottles and cakes so please give what you can. Thanks to all who have given items already.
Balloon Race It’s not too late to take part. Bring along your balloon ticket to the fair for a chance to win a family ticket to the Steam and Vintage Extravaganza at Kemble Airport. (All our balloons are biodegradable).
Next PTA meetingWednesday 2nd July 8.00 p.m. at the Old Lodge. Hope to see you there and hear your ideas on how money raised from the fair should be spent.
Visitors from Kenya I will be taking Emiliana and Isaac to Birmingham Airport on Sunday evening. They have had a wonderful two weeks with us, learning much about our education system and about our primary schools, as well as developing a greater knowledge about our culture and traditions. Thank you to everyone who made Emiliana and Isaac so welcome. They were certainly very popular visitors with our children and with the staff, parents and governors whom they met. They return to their homes and schools in Gatura with many presents for their schools and families, and with our best wishes.
School Annual ReportsChildren will be given their reports to bring home to their parents at the beginning of the penultimate week of term. If you require a second copy for an absent parent, please hand a stamped addressed envelope into the office before July 7th.
In-set Day – Friday Don’t forget next Friday (27th) is a non-pupil day as staff will be planning for next year.
Yours sincerely,
R.J.Harris
